At Smithville Community Clinic we continue to improve the quality of life for regional residents. As the only free clinic in our tri-county rural area, we support the health care needs of adults who have no insurance by providing 100% free care... medical, well woman, dental, and behavioral health care, including addiction counseling...all at no charge to the patient.

How We Help
Smithville Community Clinic is a caring and valuable service for those who require healthcare and relief without going to local emergency rooms. Our operational philosophy is to provide excellent health care, delivered professionally and compassionately. We engage our entire organization in our patients' care via our integrated healthcare model, and in doing so, we treat and nurture our patients holistically. In addition, we remove the language barrier gap by providing bilingual patient navigators for all four departments wherever needed. Here's how the work of each of our departments helps our three county region:
Medical
Our region's uninsured residents have access to free primary healthcare services at the clinic. We see the gamut of conditions, but we frequently provide much needed care and education for hypertension and diabetes. Our medical providers focus on educating patients on the importance of healthy living, good food choices and other ways to manage their health issues. We also partner with other organizations for prescription scholarships and assistance for specialty medical needs.
Well Woman
Behind heart disease, cancer is the second leading cause of death for women in the U.S. with breast and cervical cancers being at the top of the list. Having routine exams and screenings is key to lowering these risks! We remove the financial roadblock at Smithville Community Clinic by providing free well-woman exams and partnering with local organizations to offer free or low-cost mammograms, pap smears, and HPV screening tests. Having these exams on a routine basis dramatically reduces one's risk of future related complications, and patients tell us they are relieved knowing they are taking care of themselves. This is how we make our community healthier and stronger... one person at a time.
Dental
More people have medical insurance than dental insurance. As such, we receive many calls about intense pain and broken teeth. Our waiting list for services has grown exponentially over the past few years; therefore, our quest for granters and donors is stronger than ever. We provide basic dental services, starting with a comprehensive exam and x-rays to understand what care a patient requires. Fillings, extractions and cleanings significantly improve our patients' oral health, and we hear from them that it also helps their mental health. The immense pain from failing teeth can bring on deep emotional wear as well as overall health concerns.
Behavioral Health
Licensed therapists and behavioral health coaches help people with a multitude of emotional, mental, and behavioral issues, with anxiety and depression being the most prevalent. We also provide addiction coaching, addressing the many facets of the far-reaching disease. One of the most improved clients was, due to severe depression, unable to get out of bed alone when she first started. When she sent her therapist a video of her dancing in her living room, there was no doubt we are blessing our community through providing these critical services.

The cost of healthcare can be a financial burden on individuals and families, forcing very difficult decisions between paying rent or buying groceries, or seeking much needed healthcare. We frequently hear about patients struggling to pay for their basic necessities of life and sacrificing their health because they can't afford to go to the doctor, dentist, or counselor. Through the services provided by Smithville Community Clinic and the amazing organizations we partner with, our region's residents have access to life-changing services.
